Elizabeth Jaeger | IG Takeover | APR 13-17, 2020 14. April 2020 View this post on Instagram Hi ๐ฝ Elizabeth @elizabethjaeger here. Introducing a project I started with my friend and ICU nurse The night before Cady was to return to the newly formed Covid-19 ICU, Cady texted me โIf any artists are bored and want to make encouraging posters, I will hang them in our break room. We can use all the help we can get. From there we made an open call to artists to contribute artwork for hospitals at the link: bit.ly/lovetonurses (also in my profile) and the response has been beautiful and pleasantly overwhelming. ๐This link is also shared with hospitals around the globe, welcoming hospital employees to print their own copies and hopefully bring a moment of lightness to the dark days of this pandemic. The images here are from Cadyโs hospital ICU unit break room, Lenox Hill in NYC. They are in reverse chronological order, from the bulletin board this week, to her first b&w prints from the office printer. Because of social distancing orders, Cady, pictured here, is installing these on her own between breaks, carrying the prints I bring to her alone on the subway, which is desolate these days. Throughout the week I will be posting sections from the drive and photos of their installation at Lenox Hill, as well as moments and works related to this. I encourage you all to contribute and share if you like, the link to upload, download, and print is : bit.ly/lovetonurses ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Thursday at NOON NYC time and 6PM Berlin time, Cady and I will be speaking on Instagram live about her work, interior life, and her external world these days, while i render her portrait in clay, tune in โณ๏ธ and thank you, stay safe, stay hopeful ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ช-EJ A post shared by KLEMM'S (@galerieklemms) on Apr 13, 2020 at 10:13am PDT View this post on Instagram Spring by the window. Iโm here quarantining alone in NYC and itโs been remarkable how meaningful time passing outside my window has become. While grey days feel horribly endless, when the sun is it out it determines my daily patterns, and gives rhythm to this bizarre time. Sun Salutes and reading in its rays in the morning, the delight in bird songs, moving to computer work when the natural light moves past my window in the afternoon, reflecting on the sunset with the daily punctuation of clapping with neighbors at 7PM to cheer, thank, and encourage frontline workers, to finally watching the moon rise during a film in the evening and falling asleep. This repeats everyday as I watch the trees outside my windows grow buds and turn from winter brown to spring green, each day anticipating a vision a bit more lush than the day before. Questions will focus on her experience as a sentient human cast into this new role suddenly as the pandemic swept across the globe, how humor and sarcasm have stayed important, and what getting to work is like now in desolate NYC. While we chat I will be making her portrait in clay๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ. Pictured here is Cady at work in her PPE, and my works in progress that iโve been making during the lockdown. With social distancing iโve turned more towards the figure, imagining awkward social dynamics and inner emotional states that iโm very much distanced from in isolation. Tomorrowโs chat and portrait will be an exercise in forging proximity and โhanging outโ across virtual platforms, and is open to all. come with questions๐ A post shared by KLEMM'S (@galerieklemms) on Apr 15, 2020 at 7:54am PDT Tags: BerlinElizabeth JaegerGalerie Klemm'sIGInstagramInstagram TakeoverKlemm'sKlemm's GalleryLove to nursesNew York Share this article Facebook Twitter Google+ Next Post Sven Johne | Good to Talk Blind Spots- Roadtripping 30 years after the fall at Good to Talk, 28.09.2019.
