Be Hosted: Peggy Buth. Demolition Flats @ Bauhaus Museum Dessau
„In Vom Nutzen der Angst – The Politics of Selection, 2013–2018, a multipart group of works, artist Peggy Buth examines the alleged failure of postwar modern housing projects in France and the United States.
Symbolically ambiguous, the failure of standards and expectations im posed on the projects reveals the socialpolitical faultlines underlying social housing: they include policies of selection and redemption, policies of distribution and redistribution, but also the mechanisms of architecture and the organization of cities.
For the Intermezzo, Buth is putting together a selection of these works, at the center of which is a video work on the demolition of the „Pruitt Igoe“ residential complex in St. Louis, USA, in 1972 – a beacon of the failure of postwar modernism.
